Why is it obvious the Leafs won't take a defensemen? Whoever we take won't be on the current roster anyway and you can always make a trade after the fact. I personally believe they will select the best player at number 5 as opposed to the best forward. Atleast that is what I am hoping for. |

Not bad, but everyone has the Isles taken a D-man at 4 which is predictable
bc thats what the Isles lack, funny thing is Snow will not draft a D-man that high
unless it was a no-brainer shut-down D-man...ex Doughty, Pronger,etc...
Word in Islander country is Snow trades down an grabs a D-man, or the next best available F at 4
also bc the draft is loaded with D-men |

Oh yes for sure, we haven't had one since Sundin. But even drafting a Galchenyuk or Grigorenko doesn't guarantee a number one center and they would be 2 -3 year projects. Taking the best player at the 5 spot gives you an asset to put in a trade for a number one center, atleast that's what I would be thinking if I was GM lol. We all know how impatient Mr. Burke can be and I don't see him waiting a couple more years for that impact centerman. Just one mans opinion. |
